A challenge posted by Chrysti. I sit here quietly before beginning to write and think of the most challenging part of this... I am not allowed to mention a single person I know... hmm well, here it goes...
I love... the sound of the wind when it pushes the branches of the trees against my window and whistles through every crook and cranny of my home. The sound of my wind chimes flipping and twirling or even gently touching sending music through the wind.
I love the trees that line the interstate after leaving the city and entering rural country, especially in the winter when they turn white with frost. I love to look at freshly fallen snow before anyone has disturbed it with their foot prints.
I love the smell of vanilla.
I love the smell of rain, and when it's warm enough, I love what it feels like to walk through it as it falls.
I love a baby's soft cheek sleeping on my shoulder, the sweet breath hitting the side of my neck...
I love the creek of old hardwood floors. I love the history in the things around us, like old old houses and tall tall trees.
I LOVE the smell of wet acrylic paint. The smell of old paper, and the way the backside will show through along the edge I've created after I tear it...
I love it when people appreciate my art. I love when it is published and or awarded. I love when I am working at my art space and I look up and suddenly several hours have passed, and I look down and I have nearly finished or completed a lovely piece of art... I love that I can channel bad times through my art... what a rare gift indeed.
I love to look through old photos of people I don't know. I try to get them to speak to me... I love to create stories... to give them a life, because I want so badly to know how they lived.
I love to listen to our oldest generation speak of what their lives were like. I love that I can still walk the streets where I grew up... where all those memories live.
I love to try new things.
I love good news.
I love to take road trips to see places I've never seen before... or even places I have seen but wish to see again and again. I love to drive with LOUD LOUD music... so loud sometimes I can't even think. I love the windows down when I drive.
I love the quiet in the morning before anyone else is awake. I love to hear the birds early in the morning, especially after they have been gone all winter and I thought maybe I would never hear their beautiful voices again...
I love to open doors for strangers... and to hear them say thank you. I love that I feel really good when I am kind to others. I love that I am not afraid to ask for help.
I love that my cats greet me at the door every single time I come home... I love to hear them talk to me wanting my love. I love to see them sit on the window sill.
I love when I can manage to get as little sleep as possible, adding more hours to a day...
I LOVE the smell of good coffee in the morning and 3 day weekends.
I love baby soft pink and chocolate brown.
OH... I LOVE dark chocolate...
I love fire pits with family and friends... even when it's really too cold to be outside... or even to hot to be in front of a fire... I just love it so much when the light of the fire hits the smiling faces around it...
I love fresh air.
I love what it feels like to design something and to have it work...
I love a good composition and color scheme...
I love when I dream of someone dear to me who has passed It is like getting to see them again...
I LOVE the chatter of really busy places. I love heavy foot traffic on busy city streets... I love the sound of a foreign language coming from a conversation being carried out near me... I think this sound is incredibly interesting and beautiful.
I love it when I learn something new about someone I have known for many many many years.
I love good live music and theater. I love to watch and listen to talented people perform.
I love that we all as human beings look, act, and sound unique, I love diversity.
I love that I would take "getting along" over "fighting" any day.
I love the way my apartment looks with the lights on while looking through the window from the street at night... and during the day while inside, I love it when the warm sun falls in through the balcony making the red sheer curtains just glow.
I love a stretch that begins at the tips of your fingers with your arms extended to their fullest way above your head all the way down to your toes...
I love random thoughts...
I love holding hands...
I love to read beautiful writings from ordinary people like you and I. Little windows into their lives that make us feel welcomed.
So... Tell us what you love... and leave me a link so I may read it...

“*I challenge you to make your own list. The only catch? You can’t include a single person you know on your list. No “I love the way my husband laughs” or “I love hearing my little girl call for me.” It’ll be tough, I know. But this particular little exercise is about stripping away everyone who defines you and figuring out what you (not his partner; not their mother/daughter/sister/friend) love.”
Thank you all for reading,
