3 Art Cards, ACEO's, ATC's... call them what you like...

What they really are, are "Little Pieces of Art" measuring 3.5 x 2.5.  If you trade them they are Artist Trading Cards or ATC's... if you sell them they are Art Cards Originals and Editions or ACEO's.  I prefer just calling them Art Cards.  Then I get to decide whether I want to keep it, trade it, or sell it...  I never know what I want to do until it's done.

I really like to have these on hand for the shows.  For those customers that would really like original art they are very affordable.

I made 12 of them over this past weekend.  They all measure 3.5 x 2.5, and were created on Arches 140 lb watercolor block.

Here are 4 of my favorites for you to look at:

    "It'll All Work Out"

    Work out_edited-1

I am speaking this all the time.  "It'll all work out."  No matter how bad it seems, it will be okay.  She wants to believe me, can you tell.  It is hard to believe sometimes, but it is true.

I actually sold this one at the little market The Art Store  had in their parking lot this past Saturday.  I had to tell the lady who bought it that I had just completed it... that it made me sad because I hadn't had it very long...

"I Will Love You Just the Same"

    Justthesame

Don't you understand... it doesn't matter who you are or what you do.  I will always love you, unconditional.  I can't help it.

As my daughter Ali said when she first looked at this piece: "She looks as if she has just done something wrong and wants to confess."

Do you remember feeling as a teenager afraid to confess?  I remember being worried about the disappointment, worried that my parents.. (or worse, if my grandparents were to find out)  that they might feel differently about me.

    "Envy"

    Envy

    Need I say More?

I don't think her envy makes her evil.  It just might torture her a little...

    "How Do You Do"

    Youdo

Okay... Now this is beauty.  Greeting you with a welcoming smile...  I can't wait to just sit right down and hang out with her...

The Challenging part of working in this scale is trying to keep all the bits and pieces and the details from turning out chunky...

Have you ever worked with miniatures?  My grandfather built me a doll-house when I was a young girl.  I worked with my great aunt and we made furniture, groceries, clothing... everything you could think of on a 1 inch = 12 inch scale.  Things tended to look chunky and thick.

For these art cards I have learned to keep things simple... simple color schemes, simple compositions, uncomplicated poses... when I stick to this rule, I have the best results...  Of course you know how I love trees... so I had to include them, chunky as they are...
